The School of Worship takes students deeper into a life of integrity, passion, and worship. We strive to open up their eyes to the awesome opportunity we have as believers to worship our Savior "in spirit and truth." We see in John 4:23 that this is the type of worshiper the Father seeks, but what does it mean? How do we act this out in our lives? School of Worship endeavors to help reveal the answers to these questions. However, it is up to the students to live it out in their lives. We want to raise up worship leaders who have the heart and mind of a disciple, have a passionate love for God, and live a life of obedience. We give them tools to develop both the physical and the spiritual aspects of worship leading.
School of Worship (SOW) is a five month course that includes a three month lecture phase and a two month outreach. It is a second level school, so it is required to complete a DTS prior to this school.
We explore a wide variety of topics regarding worship, our call as disciples, leadership, team dynamics, heart issues, and personal discovery. We seek to build a biblical foundation for worship in the lives of of our students, wanting them to fully understand the history behind it and how that applies to us today.
The school facilitates team worship leading, musical skill-development workshops, individual song-writing, reading and discussing 2-3 books related to worship, weekly journals, small groups, intercession, and studying Psalms.
Our main goals in this school are to:
- Train, Equip and Develop worship leaders and those involved in worship ministry to be the most effective they can be in their area of influence.

Help give a biblical understanding of what worship is, not based from what culture or a thousand other books tell us.

Provide a place to go deeper with God; to ignite and fan into flame our Passion for Jesus.

Help worship leaders to live a fully integrated life that reflects Jesus in every way. The person they are on stage needs to be consistent with the person they are in every day life.

Create a culture of creativity where students feel free to express their love for God in many different ways. We want to help them discover their creative side and learn to use it for God's glory.

The two month outreach provides opportunities for students to lead corporate worship in settings beyond the classroom. The ultimate goal is to apply what was learned during the lecture phase, but this can look different depending on the location and what is available to us. We try to be actively involved in various ministries to give the students a broad experience of local church ministry and worship ministry in Missions.
We seek to lead worship as much as possible so that students can continue to gain experience and grow in their skills. This often happens in a corporate setting; church, or youth group, and in our team. We set up preaching and teaching opportunities to meet a need in churches or at other YWAM locations for worship teams or youth so that our students can learn to communicate their heart for worship. We also try to serve in areas of need in the community and evangelize through street outreaches and personal relationships.
Outreach is always a time to draw closer to each other and God in situations and countries where we might be out of our comfort zone. In our experience, it is always a life-giving time and a safe place to be changed by God who is always seeking to define our character and grow our heart for others.
$5950 - Includes room and board in Lakeside as well as outreach airfare and ground fees (food, housing, and transportation).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:
Applications for Canadian citizens should be completed no later than 1 month prior to the start of the school. For all other international applicants, completed applications should be received 4 months prior to the start of the school (Africans at least 6 months.) You must have a passport that is still valid up to six months after completion of the school. Each family member coming must have their own passport, including each child.
Prerequisites
Completion of the Discipleship Training School and Field Assignment (DSP 211,212) or Crossroads Discipleship Training School (IDS 703/704).
Accreditation
Twelve (12) to twenty (20) semester-equivalent credits will be earned upon successful completion of the School of Worship Lecture Phase ( ATS/CHR 261) and Field Assignment ( ATS/CHR 262). These credits may be applied to a U of N degree program or transferred to other colleges and universities.
